Amelie Patterson - Canadian Poet Laureate, Singer/songwriter
0
A. Patterson
Inaugural poet-laureate of Banff, Amelie Patterson is the kind of songwriter who can leverage her confident dark-pop songwriting into transfixing musical mechanica with a little help from her friends. Her new project is the Playlist, a series of diverse rolling singles, collapsible into 3 volumes, each centred on a thematic throughline, playing with genre and mood througout, experimenting in writing and pushing herself and her collaborators to darken the corners of her moody pop soundspace. Amelie is looking to add a few Private Showcases to her schedule for FAI. She is currently playing in the Alberta Room and BreakOut West Room.

Greetings from Hood River, Oregon! I am so thrilled to be attending FAI for the first time. I am a Vermont native who has put down musical roots in far flung parts of North America including Nova Scotia, Nantucket Island, the Pacific Northwest, and Baja Mexico, where I live and play in the winters. I am currently an organic gardener, slowly ditching my day job for more of a music career. Some recent interactions and performances have been encouraging enough to head to NOLA, hoping for some more opportunities to play for you all. I am a Song Schooler and regular attendee at Crooked Crow. Have a listen and thanks for your showcase consideration! https://vimeo.com/355213162 Jess Clemons Jessclemons@gmail.com Insta: @bajadog (802)498-7123

Mike Smith
Contact Phone: 773-604-5300 Contact Email: Mike@bloodshotrecords.com Category: Country / Americana Media Kit Bio: Houston-born-and-raised, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/composer/guitarist Jason Hawk harris walks his own line, one that touches on Lyle Lovett’s lyrical frankness, John Moreland’s punk cerebralism and Judee Sill’s mysticism and orchestral sensibility. There’s even the literary and sonic audacity of an early Steve Earle, an outlaw unafraid to embrace harmony. Jason's debut album Love & the Dark, released on Bloodshot Records in fall 2019, acknowledges mortality, pain, and hardship, it’s also his way of working through it. Love & The Dark is a hypnotically convincing album; you can feel the unknown, but you need not fear it.

John O'Connor
0
J. O'Connor
L John O'Connor gained his international reputation as a songwriter from his initial recordings on Flying Fish Records in the 80s. Geoffrey Himes of the Washington Post named his debut album, Songs For Our Times, one of the best albums of the year. In his review he wrote of John's original songs, "Mister, Slow It Down... is the best hitchhiking song since Kris Kristofferson’s Me and Bobby McGee. O'Connor’s Missy and Me is the best song about old age since John Prine’s Hello in There.” Joe Jencks, says that John's music is "...evocative of something timeless and familiar - yet full of lyrical and musical surprises." (Joe recorded John's song We Won on his Rise as One album.) And John's longtime friend, John McCutcheon wrote: "John is one of those rare songwriters that paints honest non-romanticized pictures of people's lives; like Woody Guthrie or Utah Phillips..." John brings to his concerts his songs, stories and poems of love, art, war, peace and revolution, laced with humor and pathos and his audiences walk away with his unforgettable tunes lingering in their hearts and minds. Looking for private showcase opportunities. Also do a traditional set. johnpauloconnor.com

G. Gilbertson
Greg Gilbertson Website: www.greggilbertson.com // (715) 225-1995 Contact: greggilbertsonmusic@gmail.com Listen: Soundcloud Watch: YouTube Follow: Instagram // Facebook // Twitter Greg Gilbertson is a singer-songwriter and an accomplished guitarist hailing from the rolling hills of Northwest Wisconsin, which is considered the Farm Region of Folk Alliance International. Whether performing solo or accompanied by his full band, Greg's live performances include up-tempo, blues and rootsy songs, full of lyrical imagery, as well as smooth and complex original guitar instrumentals with layered evocative melodies. Greg has shared the stage and collaborated in studio with fellow artists Phil Cook, Joe Pug, Dead Horses, Bill Mallonee, Pete Huttlinger, Chris Kroeze, Them Coulee Boys, David Mayfield, and Doyle Dykes, among others. In 2018, Greg Gilbertson self-released the critically acclaimed album, Surviving the Echoes. Previously, he released an instrumental record, entitled, Limited Vocabulary, in 2008. He is currently hard at work on his next project. Greg holds an award from the prestigious International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. Greg’s states- “There is an agony that can come from trying to hope in our modern society, and I am drawn to the desire, as an artist, to press the listener to think and feel simultaneously. We need to look beyond politics, and being both a lyricist and an instrumentalist allows me to approach this task on multiple fronts, as it can speak poetically to the mind, and, more abstractly, to the body and heart. Beauty is a vehicle for truth.” As a First Timer- Greg Gilbertson‘s goal and hope for performing at a Private Showcase at the 2019 Folk Alliance Conference is to have the opportunity for his poignant song’s to be heard by a wider audience, meet fellow artists and music industry folks of like minds, and have the chance to collaborate creatively. Please take a moment to listen to the music and check it out! It would be an honor and privilege to speak with anyone who is interested in hosting Greg Gilbertson as part of their private showcase.

Heartwood- "the new duo"
0
G. Charbonneau
First timers here, Jack Connolly and Genevieve Charbonneau, aka Heartwood, are very excited to come to New Orleans from Vancouver Island in January. We have recently joined up as a duo after singing together at a jam and being struck by the magic that certain voices in harmony have together. Jack produced Genevieve third solo album, Heart is a Tower, that went to #15 on the Folk Charts in June, but Heartwood seems to have some serious momentum that has become hard for us to ignore. We are releasing a Live album January 10th, 2020 so DJ's can watch for that, and we expect a full studio album by fall 2020. We are passionate songwriters (with only a mild rivalry between us, lol) who believe in presenting a diverse, dynamic show with lots of heart and chemistry. Our songs have messages without being pedantic, our songs entertain, without being trite. We hope to connect, be inspired, and have a great time at FAI 2020. We look forward to meeting you there!!

Collin also recently recorded an new album of original songs with his band, Stackhouse & The Garden.
